More is more: OpenSkies Prem+.

We’re out to reduce a lot of things at OpenSkies—check-in time, your stress level, waste—but legroom isn’t one of them. With only 28 spacious seats in Prem+—our premium economy class cabin—you’ll feel like you have acres. Each Prem+ seat has a 140° recline with 52” of legroom, that’s over 12” more than most other airlines’ premium economy cabins.

“So Dale,” you might be saying, “extra space is great, but what about the seats themselves? What about the overall experience?” Glad you asked! We’ve put a lot of thought into the Prem+ cabin. Newly designed with premium features and comfort, the leather seats offer two universal power plugs for computer and personal electronics (good news to Dave C), a convenient coat hook and our AVOD personal entertainment system with over 50 hours of audio and video. As for the experience, there’s our premium wine service, specially prepared meals that are both healthy and tasty, and—with no more than 28 passengers in the cabin—highly personalized service from the crew.

Louis is right—we’ll be the only airline with a premium economy cabin flying Paris-New York. To top that, prem+ will be the only premium economy cabin with so much space and comfort flying from cities throughout continental Europe to NYC.

    Does the bottom part of those chairs extend out so you get better support for your legs when you push he chair back?

    Dear Dale Moss,

    could you please clarify if in premium economy, your airline will serve Champagne (and not sparkling wine like premium economy on BA) and please also clarify if the meals will be different than in regular economy. Currently on BA, the food is exactly the same between economy and premium economy.

    Please make the seat comfortable. The current W seat is too hard and frankly less comfortable than the Y seat, except for the extra legroom.

    Please do not repeat Virgins Mistake of putting IFE box covers which blocks all feet space on 80% of seats in their PE cabin.

    The new Prem+ seats look fab! I really like the colour schemes, they seem quite ‘restful’ and definitely look classy.

    I wonder if BA Mainline will ever adopt this seat product? At this rate, it looks like you’ll give them a run for their money!

    I agree with Alex’s comment.

    I have flown WTP on BA and the two things that I thought really need to be were:
    1) improved recline, and
    2) the leg rest to rise. It is pretty feeble and really does need to lift up higher to provide any support and do what it is supposed to! Please take note!

    That said, the seat looks like a big step forward for Premium Economy. Well done.

    Separate check in counters are a must. Also, make sure the Prem+ cabin gets its own dedicated flight attendants and unique, heartier meals than economy class. Also, a leg rest that goes up a long way makes a HUGE difference when you are trying to sleep. Let it go up until it practically touches (or even touches) the seat back in front of it.

    Could’ve mistaken that for Buisness Class on North American airlines. Good job OpenSkies!
    One thing I’d like to know is the size of the AVOD screen. Are you going to go with the usual 10.4 inch or take the extra step and go for 15 inch? Also, about the headphone jack. I’m sick and tired of having to either use the piece of crap headphones the airlines give me because it has more than one prong. Will the AVOD headphone jack use one or 2 prongs? If it’s been finalized as 2 prongs, do us all a favor and sell the adapters on the plane.
    I agree with Fredric. I want to know if you will be serving the same meals as Economy class.
    Not much critisism on this one, although seat padding looks pretty thin. And BTW, your artist who did this impression? He left out the life jackets. Just a thought ;)

    While I see everyone is pushing for more improvements to the premium economy seats, can I say I would rather see less? There is a huge split from economy to premium economy. And that results in a huge split in price, putting it out of reach of most travelers. I don’t need 52″ or leg room, just enough to not bang my knees (I like most domestic US offerings of 38 inches). But I need wider seats than cramped economy 3 abreast. That is vitally important. I don’t need fancy meals – it’s always a gamble whether it will be something you like anyways, and I don’t need wine parings – I have learned not to drink when flying anyway. I just want a wider seat than typical economy with a tad more leg room.

    Ultimately this is what has really kept me from flying long flights across the Atlantic. Standard economy seating is just too miserable to spend money on, and while I could afford a little more, I certainly can’t afford to spend 4 or more times that much to get seat pitch and wine service I have no interest in.

    I completely, emphatically agree with Paradigm. It’s all about the comfort of that seat that people will be sitting in for 7+ hours. The seats could be a tad wider and tad more comfortable. And the rest is just fluff. If you offer comfort (as in comfortable seats) at an affordable price, then your seats will be sold out on every flight.

    I couldn’t disagree with paradigm more. I think it’s great that you are bridging the gap between coach and business with your seat. As long as it stays around twice the coach price I think you are in good shape. I like the idea of 52” of pitch and a deep recline that I can actually sleep well in. Anything less and I might as well save my $$$ and fly in coach. I think you should charge $50 more for the exit rows in economy to please customers like paradigm and keep the econ+ seats closer to old-style business class with better food and big seats.
